I think this would have a dual impact as it would give some of the less experienced player a chance at a perfect mod and also flood the market with mods and push the seriously over infalted prices down to a more affordable level for Mr/Mrs Average.
Secondly I think a new elite mission is way overdue...of course I have no doubt nighfall will bring its own versions but there are still a number of Avatars in TOA currently serving no purpose to the kneeling faithful. Far be it for the game designers to tempt the wrath of these as yet under revered Dieties.
Melandru with a forest area with lots of anti ranger critters would be good..can just see trees firing off barrage at would be treasure seekers for a weekend....spoken to a lot of peeps and they all agree the elite missions are the real test of a players mettle and, as you can tell by the attendance these areas have, they are greatly used and greatly liked......

WOW, that is an awesome idea, BUT, that should not be a weekend event, but a regular deal. I have always wondered why Grenth's Underworld and Balthazar's Fissure of Woe were the only other realms you could visit. Why not give Dwayna and Melandru the same courtesy? I just don't get it. GW, please help us out here.

ok umm I vote for no more weekend events but anyway, if I wanted a weekend I think a Double Monsters in certain areas would be a nice challenge. Umm double ectos and shards drop. oh and umm a reduced drop weekend but all drops are gold items or high amounts of gold would be nice, excluding the low level areas. Dont need everyone farming those areas. Also I vote we stop weekends for atleast to while to make Cantha's Sorrow's Furnace.

How about a "revert to 1st day" event?
Just upload the first version of GW to your servers.

A Return to Pre-Searing Ascalon weekend.
Ascended players could return to the old, pre-searing Ascalon during the event. Have new quests and stronger enemies, etc.

Random Skill Roulette!
There should be a skill roulette event where for the weekend if somebody didn't have a skill in their skill bar then it would be filled with a randomly chosen skill from any profession in the game. But there would be some limits, like you'd only get a skill if you also have the weapon for it (so you wouldn't get useless ones), and if you get more than one elite on a random skillbar you could only have up to...7. I'd like this idea because it could be applied in both pvp and pve!

Monster skill weekend - For the duration of the weekend all of the monster only skills are unlocked for everyone to use and players can equip one of these skills at a time for PvP and PvE.
Survivor title weekend - Death count is reset on characters created before the introduction of titles, double xp is awarded for the duration of the weekend.
Triple attribute staff amnesty weekend - An NPC is placed in every major town who will convert all the attributes on your triple attribute staff to the same as the main req attribute

Make another "Shouts affect a wide area" event.
I say another because this effect was in use during the last Nightfall Beta preview event.
And i think people liked how shouts were working.
My own opinion about an event is the following:
An event should be something where you place new concepts and new interesting things that could be a possible permanent add to the game in the future.
Do events where you test new things and see the reaction of players, if the reaction is good, implement it in the game.
I think Anet is only making events that "suposedly" balance the game.
Let me try to explain this in the best way possible.
Lets see, during this Double fame weekend, they were trying to make more people discover the wonderful world of pvp, and lower the Rank discrimination, in hopes of geting at least a big couple of to rank 3. (which is where the real fun starts, since most groups are more inclined to accept a rank 3 rather than a rankless person or bellow rank 3)
The open elite mission weekend, clearly trying to interest people in these elite missions by simply making them more acessible and with double gold drops.
I guess it opened a few eyes to them, mine at least(specially the fact that they carry more than 8 players)
The double exp scrolls event I simply cant understand this one, its already quick as hell to get to lvl 20.
Why speed this process even more? Let low levels take their time, they will give more valor and be hapier when they reach lvl 20 for the first time without scrolls.
Anyway, i have nothing else to comment.

idea!!
Heres a weekend idea , Double faction in Alliance battles but also add a faction transfer representative to the staging area before going into AB. Not only one for transferring to guild, but also a faction reward person for the coresponding amber or jade trades. Then after the weekend is over, you can be super nice and leave the faction transfer people in the staging areas before AB. So when we find a good team we like gaming with, we dont have to leave and go to guildhall or cavalon or house to transfer our faction potentially losing our newly found team-mates!. I think this would be the bees knees .

How about this for an event:
Have unrated Guild team (6 players per team) battles on "Burial Mounds" old-fashions style (6 teams against each other).
Or rather a special rating (with negative rating for camping/inactivity) and at the end of the weekend, the team with the highest rating gets a golden cookie.

I am in the guild that split from The Crusaders (the guild that freed Cavalon) when the fame farming got too much, but when we saw this what most of us were saying was, "Well, it is a step in the right direction, but hopefully ArenaNet will keep the elite missions open. If they don't all of our work on trying to keep the elite mission open to all was wasted."
Hopefully, ArenaNet will have seen what we did in the elite missions and never make something like them again. And, maybe, they will use one of their weekend events to open the elite missions permenently. I remember how much everyone liked the Balthazar's faction weekend when it went from two to 20 faction per kill, and they made that permenent

Experimental kick function weekend, PLEASE.
I know ANet are scared to implement it as it may be abused, but try and find a way around it and test it using one of these weekends.
Leeching is getting ridiculous.
Oh yeah, and a "Bring back /bug" weekend, so you can see just how many things are wrong with the game without insisting that people resort to the support channel.

This is exactly what we want, innovative things.
The current event (double exp scroll drops) is a possible atempt at making people realize how usefull they can be.
Although i personally dont agree with powerleveling, nor geting to lvl 20 fast, exp scrolls takes the fun of reaching it the normal way, infact i even remember when i reached lvl 20 for the first time with my first character, it was over an year ago, and i was really happy, anouncing to everyone in ToA " Whooo im level 20 yeeeeeeh" , until someone said "Bah another noob that reached lvl 20".
Anyway it was really great, and when things are hard you feel more acomplished when you successfully complete them.
So instead of trying to make something more popular, namelly exp scrolls which so many people find useless (except power levelers, people going for survivors title, and people who want extra skill points if they want skill hunter title), why not try testing something new, seeing the reaction of players and deciding to implement it or not if the players find it(or not) favorable?
In my opinion if players knew something new in guildwars was about to arise, maybe they would be much more inclined to play in this addition's beta.
The mentality of many players right now is "oh another double event, great, screw it i dont need double drops, im RICH" or "Bah i dont neet 2 times faction, i have everything unlocked" or "Pfff, i dont need double fame, im rank 12" or "BLeeeh, i dont need more exp scrolls, im level 20".
Anyway im not trying to sound harsh or anything, i believe i made what can be called constructive criticism, and I am in hope of geting replies that favor my point of view.

Instead of just double-weekends, some interesting event-type things, like when the gates were opening up during the dragon festival?
They don't need to be compplex with new enemies/graphics, but I recall when the scarabs arrived in the desert for example - similar things could happen - odd monsters appearing in new areas, a weekend long plague of undead crawling through the echovald, because some rogue student of Verata was about. Titans that had been dispatched, and landed on Shing Jea; a mission to defend the Shing Jea monastery, as waves of afflicted attack from the south (opening the area that is used for the "insignia" testing as an explorable with enemies for the weekend, allowing both mapping and some fun in there).
Since these mini-assaults/plagues are all based on existing enemies only the location/spawning needs to be done, with quests to spawn them for example? The idea of a dwarven ship having made it to Cantha, and trying to push the dwarves out of the Echovald/Jade sea sounds fun, bringing some exotic foes to those who only have Cantha so far, and letting us fight off our old enemies if we are Tyrian-born.

As strange as this may sound, I like the idea someone mentioned above. A limited time quest. One that could be completed in both Prophecies and Factions but does not require both. Hmmm... Perhaps even finish Gwens quest!
Now that would be cool.
